Gradall Forklift Parts - The Gradall excavator was the brainchild of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The excavator was created In the 1940's all through World War II, when there was a shortage of labourers. Partners in a Cleveland, Rancho Cucamonga construction company known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda, the brothers faced a huge predicament when numerous men left the labor force and joined the military, depleting available workers for the delicate grading and finishing work on highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to make an equipment which would save their business by making the slope grading work easier, more efficient and less manual.

Their initial design model was a machine with two beams set on a rotating platform which was affixed on top of a used truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams back and forth which allowed the fixed blade at the end of the beams to push or pull dirt. Before long enhancing the initial design, the brothers made a triangular boom to be able to add more strength. As well, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom rotate 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was positioned at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the equipment to be outfitted with either a blade or a bucket attachment.

Gradall launched in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their machinery ever since their creation. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide comparable power and high productivity to the more traditional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the initial Gradall equipment power drawn from gear pumps and low pressure hydraulics. These traditional systems efficiently handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity work.

The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their digging and lifting ability. These versions were manufactured together with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system which showed immense improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was also developed together with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators make use of an operator in order to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power meant for the work at hand. This makes the operator's overall job easier and likewise conserves fuel simultaneously.

As soon as their XL Series hydraulics became available, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of machinery designed to deal with pavement removal, excavation, demolition and other industrial tasks. Marketability was further improved with their telescoping boom because of its exclusive ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
